1. Main Points
At the end of this text, Diamond says "The last thing we need now is to continue codifying all those different appearances into an arbitrary system of racial classification." He wanted to mean that human beings are one species and so questioned us what does classifying human beings according to appearance mean.
2. Reaction
I read a lot of articles about race in this autumn term. What I considered from them is ambivalence of racial classification. It is not needed although it is required. I thought that Diamond explained logically why racial classification does not need in this text. The title was effective attention getter for me because I thought that race and skin color had very strong relation. The title broke this assumption completely.
I would also like to write essay from such an interesting viewpoint.
